Exploring the UEN webpage really has started helping me make a game plane for when I get into field work. This is going to really help me with lesson plans and staying on track with the core.
In the CTE resources, there was a resource called "Career and College Readiness Counselor and Parent Toolkits", and this source is one that my teachers used in all grades. It helps students, parents, teachers, and counselors make an education and career plan starting in Kindergarten, and get them started in college. Another source that I enjoyed reading about was an Anne Frank Teacher workbook. This tool helps teach a rather difficult subject, and helps the teacher make a lesson plan on how to teach it. The last tool that I read about that made an impact on me as a teacher, was solely just the fact that there were so many different resources for interactive, online learning. There are so many different sites that would be fit for the older elementary grades to research and read on their own. Even for the younger grades, these resources really help steer teachers in the right direction, and I can already tell it makes teacher the difficult subjects a lot easier. I think that UEN is going to be a lifelong to for anyone that is going into, or is already in education.

Equity and UDL: Piktograph

We learn with Equity and UDL, specifically in the section I studied with Expressive Skills, Fluency, and Communication, that there is more than one way to teach a subject. Some students learn by listening to a lecture, taking notes, or reading from an assigned novel. Other students learn best by role playing a time in history, or creating a piece of art work similar to their favorite childhood memory. I can integrate this into my own lessons by having several different methods planned out during the first couple months of school, and see what the students respond to best. When I find the different styles of learning they respond to, then I can feel assured that they are enjoying most of what they are learning. 

This is going to help my students by introducing them to all different kinds of ways to learn in the classroom. It is going to challenge them, and have them experience things that maybe they have not before. It will help them grow in confidence, and then maybe they will enjoy the challenge, and look forward to future lessons that are similar. My goals with this topic that I have set for myself are making lists of different methods of teaching, and tying them into different subjects where they will be the most effective. I am going to challenge myself not to limit myself to only a couple different styles of teaching, I will be open to all of them, and try every single idea. 

This helps me a little more with having an open mind about how I can put my lesson plans together, and have more appreciation for the students, because I never know how they are going to react. I know that introducing them to all different sorts of tools and media, are going to set them up for the harder tasks as they go on in grade school, and I know that I can be responsible for helping them get there. I want to be responsible for the reason they like learning.

A little bit about me :)

Hello! My name is Haley Olsen and I am 20 years old and currently a junior at Utah Valley University. I got married to my husband Bradley on May 4th, 2017, and we currently live in Provo with our adorable beagle puppy Milo. I am a licensed Pharmacy Technician and have been working as one for over 2 years. I currently work at CVS Pharmacy in Provo and absolutely love my job. In my free time I love reading, watching Netflix with my husband, attending plays, and singing as much as I can. Music and Drama are a big part of my life because I love to sing, act, and be part of a show. I love singing with choirs, in plays, and even just rocking out in the car where I sure I get a lot of funny stares from the cars next to me. I come from a very blended family consisting of me being the oldest child, but also being the middle child. It is very complicated to explain.

My biggest goals for this semester, especially with this class are to not get behind, and be prepared early on so that I am not scrambling to get work put together. Keeping myself organized, and understanding exactly what is expected of me with course work are important to me. I want to set goals of getting a certain amount of projects/assignments due early, or getting a chunk of them done every week. I regretted not doing that in Computer Tech Ed and I was struggling to get it all done in the end. I want to stay on top of this course and do my best, I love computer work and I am excited to see what I can accomplish from this class.
